  1. Official date 2027-01-15 Bachelor

Studielink deadline – numerus fixus bachelor

If your bachelor programme has a numerus fixus (limited places), apply in Studielink by 15 January, 23:59 (CET). You can apply for at most two numerus fixus programmes.

  2. Official date 2027-05-01 Bachelor

Studielink deadline – other bachelor programmes

For bachelor programmes without numerus fixus the national deadline is 1 May, 23:59. Many universities set an EARLIER deadline for students who need a visa – check your programme page.

  3. Plan ~8 months before start (estimate) Master

Master programmes: the university sets the deadline

Master programmes have their own deadlines (not 1 May). Apply via Studielink and/or the university portal before the date on the programme page; non-EU deadlines are usually earlier.

  4. Plan ~4 months before start (estimate) Non-EU

    Proof of money (study norm)

For the residence permit you must show enough money for 12 months: the 2026 study norm is €1,130.77 per month (university/HBO), so €13,569.24 for a year, PLUS tuition. The amount changes every 1 January – the 2027 figure will be different. Your university tells you how to prove it (often a transfer to the university).

  5. Plan ~3 months before start (estimate) Non-EU

MVV + residence permit (via your university)

Only your university (a recognised sponsor) can apply to the IND for you. Send the documents it asks for (legalised and translated when needed). Fee €254, paid through the university. The IND decides within 60 days (can be extended). If you need an MVV, book the embassy appointment within 3 months of the decision; your passport must be valid for at least 6 more months.

  6. After arrival Non-EU

After arrival: collect your residence permit

When the permit card is ready, your university gets a letter and you book an IND appointment to collect it. If a TB test was indicated, book it with the GGD within 3 months.
